Tips for night feeding

Hello,
my son is 9 weeks old and bottle fed. He's waking up in the night and while I obviously don't expect him to stop for quite some time, he really struggles to eat much before he falls back to sleep.
I've tried turning the lights on to keep him awake but he just took longer to settle afterwards. I tried changing his nappy mid feed but he wasn't interested in any milk afterwards so now I do it before (to fill some time while he's screaming).
During the day I give him a little pause mid feed and he remembers what he was doing and comes back for pudding but in the night he's just not bothered.

Has anyone got any tips, or do I jsut wait until he takes so little he drops the feed??

thanks
katy

If he's not bothered then perhaps just give him as much as he wants and allow him to drift back to sleep. How frequently is he waking though? If he's getting enough milk during the day & not waking up more than once or twice I wouldn't be so concerned. How much of a bottle does he take at night before he nods off?

he's still waking every 3/4 hours in the night which is why i'm trying to encourage him to take more.. he only takes about 3oz whereas he'll neck 5/6 during the day.

Does it really work that if I fill him up during the day he'll go longer at night. as an adult I find if I eat a lot i'm then hungry more (like I've stretched my stomach).. I've not found this happens with Jack at all.
thanks

I'd just give him what he wants. We eat different amounts at different meals as will babies. 9 weeks is tiny and so much can change in the space of weeks.
