Can making formula with boiling water kill the nutrients?

Hello
I am now mixed feeing after suffering an abscess :( I know that you need to make sure the water is 70 degrees to kill any bacteria. Does it matter if you make the formula straight after the kettle has boiled or should you wait twenty minutes to let the water cool a little. I have been making it up straight away and then cooling in ice water which I find quicker but i read somewhere that if the water it too hot it kills nutrients in the milk.
Thanks.

I don't think there are any friendly live things in formula. Live substances are in breastmilk.

I've never used formula, but I remember my lesson in hospital. Put the kettle on to boil, then do the 30 minute Milton sterilisation. By then, the water will have cooled to a manageable temperature.

Yes, 70-80c is the ideal temp as boiling water can damage vitamins etc.

It might not take as long as 20 minutes to cool though - a litre of water left in the kettle takes 20mins to cool to 70, but if you pour the water into bottles it might only take 5 minutes to cool. I'd get a thermometer and check.
