its quite sore, does it sound like a blocked milk duct?

ive tried the hot flanned then rough drying it with a towel.
but it still didnt pop.

shall i leave it a bit longer or try a steralised needle?

Could it be Montgomery Tubercles? I think it's a common-ish sign of pregnancy. I don't think you need to do anything to it or worry about it (unless it hurts?).

JacqueslePeacock · 21/01/2012 13:25

There's a link here

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 21/01/2012 13:37

Sorry - I missed that you said it was sore. In that case, maybe check with the GP? I'd say that was better than trying to pop it yourself.

thanks for taking the time to replySmile

it seems weird getting it at 17 week pregnant.

You can try olive oil on a breast pad to soften it.

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 21/01/2012 17:40

ive got some breast pads in the loft and some olive oil.

do you think its because my bra is too tight?

OP posts:
latrucha · 21/01/2012 18:28

It sounds to me like something I've heard referred to as a milk bleb or blister info here. The bleb can block a duct or vice versa. As blocked ducts can be caused by pressure on the breast, I suppose it is possible that the white spot culd be IYSWIM but I don't know for sure.

I would be tempted to treat it with the self help tips you can find on that link.

Sterilised needle if the other things don't work, as Kelly Mom describes.

But that is a guess based on what you say.

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 21/01/2012 18:36

im more tempted to try the self help ideas and even a sterilised needle, as my gp is useless at anything realted to breast or breastfeeding.

just looked at photo on link and thats just what it looks like although it om the areola rather than the pointy part of the nipple.

OP posts:
latrucha · 21/01/2012 19:10

It says they can be on the areola. Lots of things to try before either GP or needle. Watch out for more symptoms developing or it not improving as on occasion blocked ducts can lead to mastitis.

Looks like your body is gearing up for baby. How exciting!

latrucha · 21/01/2012 19:10

Or babies?

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 21/01/2012 19:18

thanks for advisng me

well its actually only one baby now, but im still carrying ht eother one that sadly died, really need to think of a name change but as the other one is still in my womb i feel a bit bad name changing.
im a nutjob i know

OP posts:
latrucha · 21/01/2012 19:25

That sounds very tough. I'm sorry. Not a nutjob. It sounds rational to me!

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 21/01/2012 19:27

thanks Smile

Carrie - I'm so very sorry about one of your twins not making it. And no you are not a nut job!

On the question you posted about - I had while pg (and still do have at times) little pearly looking bumps at the base of the nipple. I am naughtyWink and squeeze them and some hard white fat/milk concentrate does come out. They were at their worst when I was pg with DD3 and tandem nursing DD2 & DD3 - my nipples with covered in white spots! Blush

A LLL leader had a look (even more Blush) and said she had had it during pg too and it wasn't anything to worry about and it was normal.

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 21/01/2012 19:38

thanks truth, i dont think i could squuze it as its a it bit too sore.

OP posts:
CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 21/01/2012 19:39

only thing i was quite concerned about thpugh was it is a bit unusal to get this at only 17 weeks.

hope its not a sign that twin one is going to come early

OP posts:
TruthSweet · 21/01/2012 19:49

No def. don't squeeze if it hurts! You aren't really supposed to squeeze them at all but I get easily irritated by them....

I had mine all the way through DD2's & DD3's pgs and they both came at 39w 5d (though 21m apart). They were worse with DD3's but I put that down to only nursing one child through DD2's pg but 2 children through DD3's pg.

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 21/01/2012 21:40

Right I'm going to try a hot compress in the bath I'd that doesn't work I might try the needle I'm 99% sure its some sort of blocked gland or duct

OP posts:
latrucha · 21/01/2012 21:43

Personally, I'd give it 24hrs with hot compress and olive oil in your bra. At least then the skin will be softened.

TruthSweet · 21/01/2012 21:43

Good luck (and don't forget to sterilise the needle first if that's what you end up doing!)
