Hi, first time on here and in desperate need of some advice. My second child is 7 weeks old, he is diagnosed with reflux (same as my other little boy) and has gaviscon. He had constant tummy upset and difficulty in digesting his milk so i changed him to c&g comfort (under guidance og HV), initially this appeared to have some effect then again the old tummy upset, screaming, crying during bottles etc re-appeared. HV advised me to see Dr about possible milk allergy (again other little boy had one). Dr prescribed Pepti-juniour (other little one was on this). Before this my baby had become fussy with his bottles and refusing by pushing out his tongue intermittently throughout the day. Since the start of the pepti this has became worse, along with his reflux. He is now constantly regurgitating as the milk is thinner. He is now averaging out at between 7-10 oz per 24 hours of milk. Its not that he doesn't like the taste so much its strange as through he has forgotten how to suck, although sucks the life out of his dummy!
I have tried every teat on the market and i am at my witts end, been to GP again who was useless.
Has anyone ever experinced this? No thrush in mouth or obvious signs of illness.

Please help!!

My son didn't have reflux but after a nasty tummy bug was reluctant to feed, I think because he associated it with puking. My HV suggested putting some syrup (Absolutely NOT honey) on the teet as a kind of motivator to get sucking again. I know every bit of advice is anti-sugar but if bub has no teeth and it gets him interested in his bottle again then there's no harm in giving it a try. Obviously, you don't want to have to do this every feed. Have you tried using a medicine syringe? It's only a short term fix and don't give more than 5ml (and always into the side of the mouth) but will make sure he's getting something at least until you can get hold of your HV or doc. My son is autistic and had no suckle reflex when he was very small and this is what we had to do initially. xx
