My DD is 10weeks old and has had a bottle of ebm every few days since she was 2 weeks or so. But now she seems to hate them. How can I get her to carry on taking a bottle as not only am I back at work 1 day a week v soon, I need my Saturday morning free time to keep my sanity.
Help please.

Sadly early introduction of a bottle is no guarantee they will continue to take one with no problem. It seems very common for babies to reject the bottle once they become aware. (Similarly you hear babies ditching the breast for the bottle). I resented all the hours I put into sterilising the pumps and bottles. DD started refusing between 3-4 months. She didn't take one again until 7mo when went to nursery. She supposedly grabbed another babies bottle! Also she forgot how to suck her old TT bottles. We switched to NUK on the recommendation here on MN.

You have my sympathy. Just keep trying. You might have better luck with a less stubborn baby. Try NUK and breastflow. And if you have to admit defeat, remember they will be weaned one day and they will not be relying on bm forever. (DD was completely milk free during the day by 9mo).

Same happened with my DS. Had a bottle a night from dad (either expressed milk or formula) from about 3 weeks to give me a break. Got to 4 months and decided he only wanted boob! My mum bought him these direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-4257.aspx. Expensive but worth it!!

Before that we were using standard phillips advent ones or tommee tipee closer to nature, but something about the way the milk flows, he'll take anything from a dr browns bottle inc water and formula which he was always iffy about! Well worth a tenner I think!

No advice as this happened to me and we just had to ride it out. I had also got used to having my own time but that had to stop! It happened when DD was 12 weeks, she had taken a bottle since she was 6 weeks.

Luckily it only lasted a few weeks, although that might not be reassuring for your situation.

Did you try a quicker flowing teat? The teats get an extra hole at 3 months. Could be frustration with slow flow? (it wasn't in our case, but it was something we tried.)

Good luck Smile
