Expressed milk

Really dumb question i suppose but how many ml's of expressed milk make up a feed for DS aged 6 weeks. Any ideas? Trying to express enough to suffice him in the car.

I think we used 6oz at that age, one of the small bottles.

Thanks. Have called an agent to hire an electric one as am sat here (as usual) trying hard to express and have only managed 1 fl oz so far!!!! When using the electric pump in hospital managed a full bottle in a third of the time.

I hate this!

Have a look here - there's a great calculator which tells you how many ml/fl ozs a baby should be taking....

Depending on how long you plan to express for, it might be cheaper to buy your own double pump. I've been exclusively expressing for 8 mths now (dd wouldn't latch on) and bought an Ameda Lactaline for £90 - if I had hired it, this would only have covered 2 months rental fees....if you see what I mean!
Hope this helps & good luck!

if you are travelling you are probably going to have to stop and feed him for your comfort if nothing else - unless you can express while travelling and then lean over and feed him via the bottle. How long is the journey likely to be ?

Mine took about 4oz feeds at that age.

Shivs - Wish I'd seen your post before going out!!! Have just sent DH to the agent with the cheque to hire the machine for 30 days at half the price you mentioned - grrrrrr!!!! OH well.
Will see how it goes this month and if it's good I'll invest in one myself. Thankyou and thanks for the link.

Thanks Throkenholt - we declined the journey in the end. It didn't feel right. x
