Any tips? I've got about 10 (some from when DS was a baby and now some new ones for DD) and NONE of them fit properly. Where's the best place to buy them and how can I make sure they bloody fit? Tips for how to measure at home and order online particularly welcome...or am I going to have to haul my lazy a*se down to the shops?

Hot milk are good but I get them from a local independent shop so unless you are in Cumbria it's no help to you!
You can buy them online but you need someone to measure.

thanks :) am not in cumbria tho...

I bought loads of nursing bras before I had DS and ended up wearing the same 4 I bought from marks and Spencer's. Think it was about £25 or £30 for pack of 2. Hot milk ones I have are very pretty but the m and s ones are just so comfy and soft and smooth under clothes. Also bought mothercare sleeping bras 2 pack which are also great.

Babaj · 06/01/2012 13:21

I had maternity ones from m&s but my boobs are a gg so i don't fit in any m&s stuff now! So i went to bravissimo, think they were about £30 each. Tge straps are better and they are more supportive tan the m&s ones! They also have better cups, m&s ones seemed a bit like spirts bras! (sorry for mispelt words, so hard to type on my tablet!)

anita underwired.

every other one is crap and i've tried them all

otchayaniye · 06/01/2012 16:43

nursingbrashop will exchange

SmileItsSunny · 19/04/2015 19:51

sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have similar question - I do not have a bravissimo near me, my old bf bras are squishing my nipples! where can I get measured for properly supportive, and ideally pretty, bf bras please?

Coldcabbagestew · 19/04/2015 19:54

I am reasonably ample boobed and lived in bravado seamless tanks when feeding. Also liked Anita underwired.

AnythingNotEverything · 19/04/2015 19:58

Just buy a normal wired bra that fits well(no wires on breast tissue etc), and convert it using a kit from ebay. It's really easy, and your boobs point in the right direction again Grin

Gunpowder · 19/04/2015 20:03

YY nursingbrashop and Anita underwired. They aren't pretty-pretty, but they make your boobs look good. All I am bothering with this time.

Gunpowder · 19/04/2015 20:07

Sorry just realised you want to be measured. Could you measure yourself according to these instructions? otherwise John Lewis are quite good I think. If you do go for the Anita, be aware they don't count double letter cups so you'll be a bigger cup than in other brands.

SmileItsSunny · 19/04/2015 20:11

Thanks all. John Lewis is convenient I'll try there. I appreciate the tips. sounds like Anita are popular.

never heard of converting normal bras before - might try that later when breasts back nearer to normal size! Grin

SmileItsSunny · 19/04/2015 20:14

gunpowder Thanks for the link, I'll get DH to help me with that later. I have been known to get my measurements spectacularly wrong before, as a long-distance bridesmaid. Blush

AnythingNotEverything · 19/04/2015 20:32

OP once DD was about 12 weeks my supply had settled enough that I wasn't swelling so much inbetween feeds. I was back in the bras I expanded through during pregnancy. Worth a look to see if you have anything suitable - they're still usable as bras after feeding if you want to keep them.

How old is your new baby?

Gunpowder · 19/04/2015 21:17

Grin smile oh no!

SmileItsSunny · 22/04/2015 19:39

any he is 12 days old today! I am using bras from previous pregnancies.

AnythingNotEverything · 22/04/2015 20:11

Oh congratulations!

Just be careful not to squish those boobs in a too tight bra before your supply settles Grin

jessplussomeonenew · 28/04/2015 10:46

I found the bravado bodysilk bras great for the early days when cup size can be a bit all over the place. Not really attractive but very comfortable, and stretchy/non wired so precise measurement is a bit less of an issue. More recently I got some nice fitted nursing bras in the figleaves sale.

Somethingwitty2015 · 29/04/2015 19:49

The Bravissimo website has a great video about how to check if a nursing bra fits properly - www.bravissimo.com/perfectfit/maternity/fit-video/ (hope link works). I found M&S good for measuring and Mothercare useless, but perhaps just luck of the person doing it. You did the right thing by waiting until baby arrived: the week before DS was born I was measured as 40DD and when he was two weeks old I was wearing the same bra as a 36G! I'm now an F/FF with DD. I kept the bigger ones for nighttime when I wanted a looser fit. Remember to measure when your boobs are at their fullest so they don't get too tight and to leave room for pads if you use them. I also treated myself to one underwired normal bra in bigger size for the rare occasions when I get a night out and am shocked at how huge they are!

ohthegoats · 30/04/2015 11:08

I agree with Anita underwired - all others are crap/unsupportive/ugly etc. These don't produce a perfect/your preferred underwired support boob shape, but better than the non underwired ones.

Portobelly · 30/04/2015 19:34

John Lewis measure well. M&S have never measured me correctly so I didn't bother taking my milkers there.
I'm very happy with the bravado bra jl recommended (based on my size and disdain for lace)
Have you a John Lewis near you?
