Nursing bras at night?

justabigdisco · 03/01/2012 00:14

Hi all, have been BF my 8 day old DD, rocky first few days but getting there! Had some nipple trauma both sides which I hope is getting better with lansinoh/cabbage etc.
I have been wearing my nursing bras day and night but feel as though I want to go without for a few hours at least, what do people do? Am concerned about leakage all over the bed but feel as though my nips need to breathe!

Going without a bra is fine, you will drip though...pop a towel under boobs perhaps.
Well done for getting this far, esp with nipple trauma.

I went braless in the early days when nipples were really sore, it really helped them heal. Sheets did get a bit messy for a few nights, but so what? Your health is the most important thing, clean sheets can come later Smile

Just so you know jojo maman bebe do a pack of sleep bras which are really comfy. A bit like crop tops from when you were 10 but perfect to just hold the breast pads in place.
Congrats on your new arrival x

I went bra-less. I half fell out of my bra one night, crushed a milk duct, and got terrible mastitis. Never again!

I purchased some vests with hidden support in from primark of all places- £2.50! I am not a 'big' chested girl so they were perfect for me (albeit I have jumped from an a cup pre child to a C cup now I'm feeding!) Anyhow, the vests were fab for me as I was uncomfortable wearing a bra (especially when i had mastitis) but the hidden support also kept the breast pads in place too. They come in sizes 8-10/12-14/16-18 etc. Just get a size above what u are for comfort. I mix and matched pj bottoms with the cream /pink vests I brought (not had matching pjs since I was 12 years old!!

I have a load of Bravado bras that are super-comfy - crop top/teen training bra style as other posters have mentioned. With DC1 I just used them as night bras to hold a breast pad in place, with DC2 I just wear them all the time because they're so comfy - probably not v flattering but I no longer care Blush

Some great advice here, will check out what you've suggested, thanks all Smile

Big vote for primark from me too... They do Lycra crop tops too, & only £4 for 2..... Bloody bargain. I bought loadsa wear one each night with a couple of pads in & there mega comfy, easy to lift up a feed during the night & I don't feel like I'm wearing a bra & my hubby keeps dry too!!! Oh & I pop a towel (waterproof sheets get sweaty) under my fitted sheet to protect the mattress just incase.

justabigdisco · 05/01/2012 10:18

do the primark ones come in ginormous? am wearing 36G since milk came in Blush

Justabigdosco think they only go up to 18/20 and they come up small. That's the only benefit of being flat chested, I can get cheap underwear!!! Wink x

I wear the Sloggi Comfort crop tops. You can get them from very or Debenhams I think. Dead comfy and I'm a 34F now.
