...your bf DS measures himself against you, you say "wow, you're almost up to my chest" and he says; "oh good, that should make it easier then"

Now I realise this makes it sound as though DS is about 17. He really isn't, and this honestlyreallytruly happened today.

When your DS accidently bites you and says "whoops, sorry Mum."

DS is 10 months. Hasn't happened.....yet. DS is proving v tough to be persuaded so not beyond the realms of possibility!! Grin

TruthSweet · 01/01/2012 19:55

cadelaide - has your DS not discovered mugging you on the toilet or getting a chair to stand on to reach? Must try harder Wink

chloeb2002 · 01/01/2012 22:54

ok im soft.. dc#3 is 11 months and at times i have hot the point.. she is far off i add tho... two grounds.. desire for a final dc this year...and I really really want to wear REAL.... underwear .. just for a bit inbetween....however just found out my REAL underwear is all too big WTF???? normally i go up a sze but cueerntly two ornages in melon holders.... so if i buy new undies now it will be pointless so i admit defeat and will continue till dd chooses to stop...

TruthSweet · 01/01/2012 23:00

I wear normal underwired bras now not nursing bras and have done since DD3 was about a year. I find just dropping the strap off my shoulder and folding the cup work just as well for the occasional times I need to feed in the daytime now. You just need to make sure the underwire is wide enough to fully go around your breasts and the bra doesn't dig in anywhere.

flamegirl77 · 02/01/2012 03:56

I want to wear my nice dresses!

mawbroon · 02/01/2012 20:48

Have had pretty much the same convo with ds1 cadelaide!

DS2 isn't far off speaking, so we will probably get the on/off/on/off/chat/on/off/chat a bit more/on/off phase soon.

harverina · 02/01/2012 23:04

Cadelaide, your post made me laugh!

I love the chat mawbroon - I especially love it when my 21 month DD looks up at me and smiles or giggles while feeding :) I DO NOT like it when she looks up at me, bites down then giggles grrrrrr! (although when she pulls off and says "sorry mummy, mummy ok?" how can I stop her from latching back on!!!)

Some days I do feel like giving up - last week she wasn't well with a cold/cough and wanted "booboo" all the time and I found that a struggle, but the flipside is that I know that breastmilk is the best thing for her when she is poorly and not eating well. To be fair, for the past few months my DD has fed usually no more than twice per day - early morning and last thing before bed. In fact during rhw lastcouple of months she has been skipping more and more feeds and we have gone a couple of days at a time without any breastfeeding at all...this gives me mixed emotions!

harverina · 02/01/2012 23:05

Chloe, I also wear normal bras now and have for a while, though to be fair my DD doesnt feed during the day anymore. You can get underwired nursing bras which offer a bit more support too...not nearly as good as a normal bra but its a slight improvement!

ThePathanKhansWitch · 02/01/2012 23:07

My dd used to have a ginger nut with hers Hmm, was probably time to stop then, but she self-weaned at 3.10, it was a good time.

LakeFlyPie · 02/01/2012 23:14

Grin cadelaide

DS1 (3.5) obsessively prefers 'the left one' and has a dramatic face down on the bed faux tantrum if his brother (12mo) gets 1st dibs at bedtime leaving him the inferior 'right one'.
"Is it the left one" is always his 1st question when I join him for bedtime story / milk. However, he never actually turns it down for the proffered cup of milk.
I've tried to find out why 'the left one' is so favoured, but apart from a strange conversation about the right one having 'insects' once he just says "I love left" Hmm

harverina · 02/01/2012 23:17

TPKW, I'd be mad if my DD wanted one of my gingernuts! They have always been my favourite breastfeeding snack!

ThePathanKhansWitch · 02/01/2012 23:24

Mine was a huge bar of Dairy Milk and a pint of cold milk. God forgive me, it gave her awful colic for the first twelve weeks, but i was like an addictBlush.

sayjay · 02/01/2012 23:28

ThePathanKhansWitch you have made me snigger twice Grin Grin

harverina · 02/01/2012 23:31

:) :) ThePathanKhansWitch...still just think of all the goodness of your breastmilk, sure it outweighed a little bit of colic ;)

I forgot to mention my other favourite snacks...snickers, milk, lucozade, kitkat chunkies...to name a few!

ThePathanKhansWitch · 02/01/2012 23:48

And there was me thinking everyone else was following an organic, gluten, cat-hair(don't ask) free diet.

Really harverina lucozade Shock, should be ashamed of yourselfGrin.

TimeWasting · 03/01/2012 14:14

Ooh lordy, no snack with feed, have you never had a toddler start chewing absent-mindedly?!

BaronessBomburst · 03/01/2012 14:35

No No No! You can't BF and eat a Kitkat. That's Nestle!!!!

harverina · 03/01/2012 16:02

I know, I know lucozade and kitkats, I am deeply deeply ashamed.

ShowOfHands · 03/01/2012 16:09

BIL was once yapping on about extended bfing being weird (he had no idea dd was still bfing, none of his business frankly) and said 'why would any child want to be bf when they can have cows milk?' and dd (3 at the time) piped up 'because cows' milk is cold and not so lovely as warm mummy milk which tastes much better anyway'. He turned a lovely shade of purple, stared at me, at dd, at me again and walked out.

I do like it when dc start to comment on bfing. It's usually very heart warming.

DD didn't like left btw Lake. Right won out here.

Eglu · 03/01/2012 19:12

SOH I love that. Your dd certainly put him in his place.

TCOB · 03/01/2012 19:17

Favourite moment of the Christmas holiday: a quiet moment in The Nutcracker. DD (18 mths) staring enraptured. Then suddenly turning round, stuffing her hand down my top and shouting 'boobies! boobies!' Smile I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me happy.

Is it too late to start snacking whilst BFing 'for the baby'? It sounds a delicious habit I've never entertained...

startail · 03/01/2012 19:22

When DD could quite happily feed when we were both stood up.
Originally she'd play this game stood on the bed, then the stairs eventually on morning I realised she wasn't on the step into her room any more.
