tandem nursing question

Well, kind of tandem nursing. I was pregnant and breastfeeding my 11 month old but last friday I miscarried at 13 weeks. Now I'm producing clear fluid (presumably colostrum for the baby I miscarried) and occasional drops of milk. My 11 month old is not impressed and is refusing to feed more than a few seconds. I'm hand expressing to encourage my milk to come in/come back but I'm worried that it won't. I know I've done well to bf this far and it's up to my baby when he weans but I was hoping he'd carry on a bit longer as my older 2 self weaned at 14 months and 18 months.

Hopefully an expert will coem along soon and aswer your question.

In the meantime i just wanted to say how sorry i was to hear about the baby you lost Sad

I wqs also pg when nursing my 15 month old. It started to get painful as i went into the third trimester and ds started to want to feed less. I thought he was slef weaning and i just let him stop. Later i relaised he was too young to self wean, it was probably a nursing strike and i wish i had persevered . Now i feel a bit sad that i stopped so soon and feel tnat he missed out a bit.

Just my ecperience...

So sorry to hear about your m/c.
I tandem nursed DC 2&3. IIRC, DS2 didn't nurse much at all in the first few days of DD's life but went back to normal once my milk came in (after a day and a half). If you are starting to produce some milk rather than colostrum and just keep offering maybe your DS will start nursing again. I think it's quite encouraging that he is nursing even if not for long at a time.
