Always had no problem breast feeding DD (14 weeks) and really enjoyed it but I was poorly over the weekend so DH fed her all my expressed milk (she's happily swapped between breast and bottle before) all weekend, but now I don't seem to have very much any milk, they feel really empty and when I try to feed her she just thrashes her head from side to side and cries.

She's been screaming all day and DH keeps saying he should just go buy some formula but it makes me so sad thinking about, but she just won't stop screaming - help?

How did you get on at the group, pooedonsanta?

You can get your milk supply back. This happened to me when DD was 3.5 months. I went away for a weekend (she had expressed milk all weekend) and was hand expressing to ease the pressure. When I got back after two days my supply was really low. Luckily I was able to borrow a hospital grade pump from the local support group and within 2 days my supply was back up but it was hard going. You need to express for at least 20 minutes every 3 hours including night times so set your alarm clock. Also allow baby access to booby as often as possible. The idea of a babymoon is a good one too.

You can get it back, it is just going to take a couple of days hard work.

Great thanks Bertie & wgc - I've been pumping hard and doing LOTS of feeds and I'm defnitely getting there. And I didn't end up giving formula the other night - we were just about to go get some when we decided to give her a bath first and it calmed her down enough to get a half decent feed Xmas Grin she was up pretty much every hour/30 mins in the night but I didn't mind as she did feed a little each time she was up and it helped get everything going again! Thanks everyone
