How long did your milk take to dry up?

My DD stopped bf 4 weeks ago at 15mo. I would have thought that my milk would have gone by now but it's still there in abundance (when I have a squeeze in the shower to find out....!) Just out of interest, how long did yours take to dry up?

If you keep squeezing you will probably keep making milk in small quantities. The more you touch your nipples/hand express the more likely you will keep on making a trickle. I guess it's an insurance policy in case your DD starts bfing again - after all how does your body know it's not DD having a little every now and again.

It may well take months (if not years) to completely stop making milk even if it is in tiny quantities but it's not a problem unless you start leaking after a long period with out any milk (can be a sign of hormonal problems).

Hmm, I did think that I might be encouraging it by having a little squeeze! DD has absolutely no interest in starting again - in fact I offered it to her when she was very poorly about 10 days ago and she looked at me like I was crazy, gave me a little bite and then turned her head away. Amazing how quickly the instinct has deserted her!
