7wo has cold and high temp - green poo

7wo DD is EBF and has a cold and chesty cough with temp around 38c since last night. Checked with NHS Direct and all ok as no other symptoms causing concern.

Am feeding her as often as poss to ensure she's hydrated etc.

I've just noticed some green poo in her nappy along with usual mustardy poo.

Is this just caused by her feeding loads at the moment or any cause for concern given temperature?

All newborns do poos of different colours sometimes, I found that green poo was more present when DD had too much foremilk and not enough hind or was a little under the weather. When you are feeding her as often as possible she may be getting more foremilk (good for hydration), hence the green poo.

Thanks Zhen, that's what I was thinking but just wanted to make sure there was nothing more alarming.

I feel like a novice even though we have a 3yo DD as she was never sick as a wee one - so this is uncharted territory!

TBH it's quite likely to be mucous from the cold changing the colour of baby's poo. Green poo isn't a problem when baby has an infection and it's normal even when baby doesn't have an infection for poo to be any thing from bright yellow, mustard yellow, lime green, bright green or even pea green. The only concern would be if the poo looked like meconium or was black/dark brown in a baby who was well past that stage or wasn't on solids.

Feeding her frequently and getting her checked out as ness (NHS Direct again or GP if she gets worse) is just whats needed. Sounds like you are doing well hope baby is too.

My 5wo does green poo most of the time - I checked this out with my doctor who said the same thing as above about foremilk, and that it's absolutely fine.
