Bf and teeth

DD is now 6 months and has two teeth that have just erupted on her bottom jaw and she is using them to bite me when she bfs!!!! She will either give me a little goodbye nip (yaiks!!) at the end of a nice bf, or she will settle down for a prolonged chewing of the nipple (OOOOMG)!

I know that loads of people continue bf for years, do you all have lovely babies and I have given birth to a marauding Visigoth, or is there a clever trick to avoid being bitten.

Yelp/shout loudly and put dd on the floor. Repeat every time she bites.

yelping loudly doen't always work as some baby's just find it funny.

Delatiching and putting her down everytime she does it should help though. They soon get the idea that they woun't get milk if the bit.

I often found the best way to delatch a bitting baby was actualy to pull them into the breast so the nose is then covered, they then automaticly open there mouth to breath.

Yep, I scream, dd giggles Grin no help here sorry. My little monster likes to bite down as she's conning off, so she gets the end of my nipple, sometimes I'm scared to look! Grin

I did yelp (out of pain!) and she looked at me with a totally self-satisfied grin. I think she is a psychopath! Xmas Wink

Oh god, mine too. As of a week ago DD has two teeth and likes to bite me if she's distracted. DH is now in trouble if he speaks to me when I'm feeding because I get bitten.

I delatch her, put her down for a minute and I don't make eye contact. My mum, an HV, tells me this will help but that she'll probably always bite a bit and it goes with the territory.

I'm far too lazy to formula feed so I guess I'll put up with it. I suspect you will to Xmas Grin

My DS started to bite when he was around 7 months. He was teething quite a bit and was chewing everything that came his way, including me. Fed him lying down for a couple of days on the suggestion of a BFC and it worked a treat. The biting stopped completely.

There is some info on biting here Xmas Smile.

My twins both bite me sometimes (though DD is far worse for it than DS). It does happen far less now (13 months) though.

I always take them off (finger in mouth to break the latch first!) and then come back to the feed in a few minutes. Hasn't solved the problem, but by not helping they have at least stopped finding it funny.

Hope you find a way to stop it!
