baby preferring one side

hi basically my 7 week old baby has taken to only wanting to feed of the right breast. if i try and offer her the left breast she starts crying and squirming around like she has gas and as soon as i put her on my right breast she is fine and feeds. now i am concerned as about three years ago i had a lump removed from my left breast. they warned me that when i had the lump removed i may have not been able to breastfeed from the left one due to possible damage in the operation. i have had no problems with that side until now. is it just a faze she is going through or could it be a problem
also i plan to go out for a couple of hours with friends Saturday night. a work do. i only plan to have one drink but because of my concerns with my milk, i was thinking of topping up her bottles with formula if i couldn't pump enough. would that be a problem? it would be a one off only for that night. she would still be getting breast milk its just i fear i may not be able to make enough in time and i dont have a freezer at the moment to store it in for longer or i wouldn't be asking this question. lol.
cheers
x

I'm in a similar situation. I had a lump removed about 8 years ago but cant remember if i was told at the time if this would affect bf. i've found that that side doesnt seem to produce as much milk as the other. Have you tried the rugby-ball-under-arm-hold to 'trick' your LO into thinking she is on her favoured side? I found this worked for my LO as he had a lot of bruising on one side of his head from the (forceps) birth & this kept him happy. He is almost 7 weeks now as well.

yeah she had forcep delivery as well. i am still trying to master the under the arm hold for breast feeding. Im not sure whether it is colic as i suffer from colic still and ibs and chrones disease run in my family unfortunately. what is a colic cry like? when she cries and i cant pacify her she usually won't feed either and kicks her legs around frantically. is that a typical sign of colic?
