Does swallowing air in = wind out?

e.g. in the case of swallowing lots of air due to a tongue tie?

23 m.o. DS seems to suffer a lot with flatulence, especially at night. He has done on and off for a long while and I've been trying to work out why (mainly in an attempt to help him stop waking so often at night Hmm).

Looking at his tongue, the frenulum looks considerably shorter than mine but I don't know how short is short IYSWIM. I don't think it's really short - he can stick his tongue out of his mouth a reasonable distance.

We've not really had any problems bf'ing, and he certainly hasn't had any problems with weight gain (born on 50th centile, got up to 99th centile and continued there since). However he did have spells of clicking while feeding and even now, he has periods of losing suction while feeding, particularly when I'm feeding lying down, when he makes almost a slurping noise.

I'm probably on the wrong track but I want to read around to find out more. I've found Brian Palmer's site, and the Kellymom links, although I've not read much of them yet.

And if anyone has tips on how to get a nearly-two-year-old to co-operate with you looking at the underside of their tongue, it would be very much appreciated. :)

Farting is caused by digestion issues. Swallowed air is used burped or breathed out of the nose while feeding (as I understand it, not an expert).

Ds has been getting molars which sems to coincide with upset tummy problems - I know its supposed to be a myth but it really seems to go together for him. He also wakes a lot and I think its just (bad) luck tbh.

That makes sense - I wondered because I know that TT can cause digestive issues.

DS has cut all his molars but they still seem to be bothering him, so maybe there's a link there. I can't trace it to any particular foods. The first waking of the night always seems to be farting-related as far as I can tell, although there have been more tonight.

The rest seem to be pretty random though!
