3 month old refuses bottle

I have a 3 month old daughter who is being breast fed. My husband and I have been trying to get her to take expressed breast milk through the bottle and she is refusing. My husband has tried when I am not around and her fed is due but when he puts the bottle in her mouth she just sucks it then gets angry and cries. I have tried as well and she does the same thing with me. We have tried different bottle teets such as tommy tipee and Medala and different positions but no Joy. I really need a break from breast feeding and I am so upset that she will not take it. I am desperate for success stories and advice.

Loads of ideas and tips in this factsheet.

It might be helpful for you to leave it for a few days so your baby forgets her antipathy for the bottle. Persisting with a baby who cries and who gets cross is a hopeless task, honestly....leave it, and try again using the tips in the factsheet, maybe?

I have the same with my 8 month old - he will only drink from me or from an open top cup. We tried going out one evening and he cried for an hour with my Mum. (Mind you, she has that effect on most people!)

I will have a look at that link too, thanks - I had pretty much given up.

At 8mo it's pointless to introduce a bottle. They aren't supposed to be using them over a year. Something about them being bad for babies teeth. You start migrating to cups from 6mo. So you might as well just bypass the bottle stage.

Agree with lilham - if your baby is ok with a cup, kirsty, that's great :)

No point at all in insisting on a bottle at 8 mths.

With the OP it's different - quite hard for a 3 mth old to get the necessary volume in with a cup (though it is possible).
