Hi ladies hope you can help with this one! This week My 8wk old has started screaming everytime I latch him on my left boob. At best he will eat for about 5 mins before pulling off screaming. He seems to choke and gets very windy. I've had to start expressing that side as its getting so engorged.
Any ideas as to why he's started doing this? :(

Sorry I am not very experienced, I am sure someone more experienced will post soon with some better suggestions, but what happens if you change the hold? E.g. if he is OK in the cradle hold on the right, do rugby hold on the left so that his body doesn't change shape at all as he eats. Worth a try?

Thank you boo :)
have tried various positions today and nothing helped he screams at all feeds now. Could it be an over supply issue? Ds had his jabs this week and has been feeding a bit less so I wonder if there is too much for him? Does anyone have any ideas is this will reduce on its own or if there is something I can do? Have spent the day covered in milk thank goodness we are at home :(

My DS was also like this on the left at about the same age, I often had to spend what felt like hours winding him whenever feeding him from that side.

I find that my left boob also tends to be prolific than the right so I think some of his reaction and the wind it generated was from experiencing a faster flow on that side than on the right. I found that going left first helped a bit with this, as I seem to get a let down on left when feeding from right but not the other way round, which meant he didn't then experience a huge increase in flow when I swapped sides.

Not sure if that is of any help at all to you, but thought it might help a bit if there are any further similarities between our experiences.

Good luck fixng it.
