Sainsbury's don't sell breast pads

Well, according to my friend they don't in their Northwich branch, at any rate. She is hugely frustrated - and going elsewhere for her shopping now - as it isn't as if they are a perishable item that would be costly to keep in stock.

I'm really surprised, as I've never had problems getting them in supermarkets near me.

Has anyone else had similar trouble?

Yep the three local branches near me dont stock them either (West Country). Is ridiculous when Tescos and other supermarkets do. It was very impractical when I needed some and had run to the supermarket between feeds - ended up trekking around town in the evening when normal shops were closing with a newborn in very bad mood!

milkandnosugar · 23/11/2011 14:37

Mine do, but frankly they are gubbins. I tend to seek out tommee tippee in stresco or asda, (bought them in boots once but they were priced up by around £1).
still searching for washable ones that do the business.

Get Boots reusables. Far more comfortable, you're probably washing every day any way but I found two packs (12 pads) was plenty. Cheaper and less waste too.

The Northwich store is pretty big cokefloat. I think it just comes down to whoever is doing the buying there thinking they are irrelevant. It could be that there is no demand, but it services a large area, so I'd be surprised.

There are obviously alternatives (thanks for the Boots tip HappyCamel Smile), but it's just frustrating that they don't recognise breastfeeding mothers, when there is a huge aisle of formula.

LizaJ I think it must just be your store as my local sainsburys stocks breast pads and there is always a plentiful supply.

blackteaplease · 23/11/2011 15:42

My sainsburys do, but I ended up buying washable ones from boots in the end as I was fed up of filling up my bins.

lilham · 23/11/2011 16:13

My local asda runs out all the time. On the other hand, the waitrose is very well stocked with multiple brands. Don't want to make the generalisation here, but ...

dribbleface · 23/11/2011 16:24

our local Tesco's big store always run's out, and the sainsbury's one's made me really sore, no idea why!

sismith42 · 23/11/2011 21:48

Complain. My local sainsburrys is usually receptive.

Woodlands · 23/11/2011 21:54

In the days when I needed them my Sainsbury's sold them, but I preferred the Tesco's ones.

thisisyesterday · 23/11/2011 21:56

nope, they have them in our sainsburys

BramblyHedge · 23/11/2011 21:57

Our does

Notnapping · 23/11/2011 22:00

Mine does
My local coop does not however it has a WIDE range of formulas

LittleWaveyLines · 23/11/2011 22:01

I got fed up with this and ended up buying little lambs bamboo reusables. They're FAB s much more absorbable, and not scratchy like the disposables... take a long time to dry though....

Eglu · 23/11/2011 22:01

Both of my local Tesco store regularly just have a gap on the shelf where they should be. Very annoying.

I've found the little lamb bamboo washable ones are very good. They have a waterproof layer in them so don't leak through and they are very soft.

Eglu · 23/11/2011 22:02

x post littlewavey. Great minds and all that :)

LittleWaveyLines · 23/11/2011 22:03

:)

dreamfeeder · 23/11/2011 22:04

my sainsburys sells their own brand but thats it. They're fine though

emsyj · 23/11/2011 22:05

My local Sainsbury's sells them, but I didn't think they absorbed very much (not enough stuffing) and always bought mine in Home & Bargain - cheaper and could take a lot more leakage. They also do really reasonably priced breast milk storage bags.

littleducks · 23/11/2011 22:05

I bought reusable cloth ones which worked well, and then a set of lilipadz...which were fab, especially at night as i didnt need a bra then......until I inexplicably took one off and lost it, never to be found in my bedroom. Though that was probably the least important thing I lost in that sleep deprived period with a new baby and a 2 yr old (gold jewellery/one and only set of car keys/my purse).

fatbottomgirl · 24/11/2011 09:32

Mine doesn't and it's very Irritating as there is no other supermarket near by and our local and tiny boots often runs out. I have to stock up else where Angry.
