Watering down milk for 13m old

DS is refusing to drink any milk, or any kind.

He stopped BF about 6 weeks ago. People here suggested it was a nursing strike so I've carried on trying to feed him, especially first thing in the morning, but although he's had some feeds in that time he's carried on refusing, and is now pushing me away and getting upset if I try to feed him. After 6 weeks I think it's definitely over.

He won't drink full-fat cows milk, so yesterday I got some formula to try thinking he might prefer the taste, but that's a no as well.

I'm trying to put milk in his food, but getting enough in is causing me so much stress, and I don't think I'm managing it.

Anyway this morning I put some milk in his cup, he refused it. So when I went to change it for water I just poured the water in on top, and he drank it.

Will this take away the benefit from the milk, or is it ok?

I'm really desperate now.

I have sometimes watered down my daughter's follow-on milk for the opposite reason - she gulps it down and sometimes shouts for milk and refuses water, so I was worried we'd end up letting her drink way more milk than is healthy for a quiet life Blush. So some days she has two cups at half strength instead of one cup at full strength. I don't see why it would take away any benefit, the nutrients are all still going in right?

What about cheese, too, for calcium etc? Read somewhere, possibly MN, that 40g of cheese equals 100ml of milk...?

Thanks SecondRow. I managed to get a bit more down him watered down, so I think Im going to stick with it and hopefully reduce the ratio bit by bit.

Envy at your milk lover though...

I'll see if I can find out about the cheese though, that would be really helpful if that's the case.

Thanks :)
