What 'snack' is sufficient to replace a BF?

Hello

My LO is almost 13 MO and she is feeding 6am, 3pm and 7pm.

I want to phase out the 3pm (as I hope to go back to work soon) and HV suggested giving snack instead but what is enough to replace a feed?

She is not interested in milk from a cup but I want to know what I am giving her is adequate so I can be confident I don't need to do that feed anymore.

She loves her water so no issues with de-hydration etc.

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks!

breastfeeding very often is more about nurture than nutrition (although abviously nutrition is still a large part but a snack might not really be what she wants more some attention/cuddles)at this stage so maybe distraction rather than a snack or drink might be worth trying?

I don't think you need to phase it out if you don't want to. If your going back to work Im sure your LO will take a substitute from their carer at that time they tend not to mind if mums not there and then you can feed them as normal on your days off.

MY DD who is 2 still feeds that regularly if not moreso and you have alot of teething to go through and growth spurts yet when your LO will increase their feeds anyway so all your hard work reducing it will be wasted.

My DS is 15 months and I can often distract him with a yoghurt

Thanks for your replies. I want to try and stop feeding completely...just a personal choice so trying to now phase out the 3pm. Just wondering what size snack would = a BF.

When I was trying to drop the after lunchtime nap feed (still feeding at bedtime), I started giving DS some well-diluted apple or orange juice with a small flapjack. He seemed happy with that.

Great! Thanks. Flapjack is very filling I should imagine. She hasn't fed at 3pm for a few days now so will have to see how we get on! Thanks again x
