My DD is only 2 weeks old and after a rocky start the BF is getting easier. However, at the start of each feed my boobs seem to flood her with milk which a, makes her cough and b, makes her not very keen to latch on and she spends a lot of time fussing before she does latch on.

Will they settle down eventually or is there anything I can do to limit the flooding effect and make her life a bit easier?

congratulations on the new baby! you may have an over supply, however t's only been 2 weeks so things should settle down eventually. your baby should also get used coping with the fast flow. this happened to me and i still have quite a big supply after 8 months (still need to wear breastpads!) is a bit aannoying but at least you know you have tons of milk. kellymom is a great website for any breastfeeding issues:

hope this helps.

Also congrats on new baby! Ive always produced lots of milk and find that if before you feed you squirt some into a container which you can keep/throw away and you'll be less likely to drench your newborn!

If she's finding it difficult to latch on try hand expressing a little of to start with. It will settle down your still in the very early days.

Also lot's of skin to skin contact, spending as much time with her nacked on your tummy will help her be more carm at feeding times.
