I'm 39w and just went out to get measured for nursing bras!

Currently wearing 40D, was originally 38B!

Don't you love Mothercare! You go into be measured, they say yeah 44/42 e/f for nursing and then decide on 38E!! How can they measure so wrong initally! AAARRRGGG!!!

38e was really tight on the band. She reckons thus size will be fine for when my milk comes in at 6weeks....

I had some loose night time type bras for in the hospital and first few days. Then I did a big M&S order. If you order over £150 you get free next day delivery. I based the sizing on how my bras from pregnancy felt. I picked the 2 that fit then sent all the rest back for a refund. Suited me as I couldn't go to a shop so soon after c-section. I also don't really believe in bra fitting in shops as they are so often wildly wrong.

I'd get cheapish ones for now - my back size dropped almost immediately back to pre-pregnancy size and in fact, the bras I bought during late pregnancy like you plan to (nice, expensive Hot Milk ones), didn't fit at all afterwards. Too big on the back, too small on the cups. I eventually got underwired nursing bras which were a godsend. I'd consider getting a few pairs that could be returned if needs be afterwards? Most shops are 28 days so you could get a few sizes.

Where did you get underwired nursing bras from Trillian?

They're possibly not the right size now (DS is 4 weeks) BUT I did get a couple of really nice own brand two-packs from John Lewis for £30 each. They aren't underwired but they are nice and firm. IME experience Mothercare are TERRIBLE at measuring for bras.

Having said that; The woman at JL asked me how far i was, I said 36 weeks, she said, of dear. I said, why, is it too early to measure me? She said, no, I just don't think I;m allowed to measure you for health and safety reasons. WTF?!

Apparently they're worried if they pull the tape measure around your ribs tightly, they'll cause some damage. I told her that was ridiculous and that I gave her full permission to do her worst!

What I wished I would have done rather than what I did is buy a sleep bra that is a little big (2 pack from mothercare) that you can wear to start with until your boobs settle down. Great for when boobs are leaking all the time. I went to mothercare and got measured for a bra at 39 weeks and they told me a 38DD. I had thought I would take them back if they didn't fit but post baby I really didn't have time and they never fit properly and were way too small. I went to M&S though and got 2 very comfortable ones when DD was about 7 weeks old. Been using those ever since although I'm now due another shopping trip to replace them as they're a little worn out Hmm

Yes would also love to know about underwired nursing bras. My boobs haven't reduced in size since having my son and two years later am BFing again with dd and I estimate they are a 34J. I don't think bras without underwire are going to cope! Did have some unwired Emma Jane ones with ds but they are too small now and give me monoboob.
