Random one side screaming!

Hi there

Am after some advice or to see if anyone has experienced similar!

Baby bf pretty well up until last Saturday night. 13 weeks old now she has always been a chilled and smiley baby.

For the last week or so though she has started to scream/go rigid/turn her head away and back again while feeding but really only on my right breast.

I went to docs last week who ruled out ear infection. There's nothing in her mouth and anyway she will take the breast the other side.

Is just a bit bonkers (not to mention frustrating when this is my 'better' boob and I pushed through 3bouts of mastitis)

I can't work out the problem

Help!

Thanks in advance

Been through this with 2 of my kids. I got past the problem by either lying down to feed or (and this can be tricky!) position her as though you are going to feed her on the left side then slide her over to the right side with her body/legs supported on cushions/pillows etc!! basically trick her!! also make sure you offer the right one 1st!! Had Another thought!! This breast might be harder for her to suck out of cos too engorged - try expressing a bit out of it first!! Good luck!

My DD does this at random times of the day to either breast, she is not fussy! She is 14 weeks and has a scream, then feeds, repeat a couple of times then gets engrossed and feeds for 20-30mins quite happily. Sometimes she farts a lot or my records show she is due a poop or has just had one, so I think digestive for her. Very frustrating and distressing at times but been doing it pretty much everyday for weeks now. Worse now because she has been practising her high pitched squeal, so makes my ears hurt!! I just solider on, nothing for it really!

I could have written your post! Mine especially likes to scream at the right boob when in public. Was told by a bf counsellor that it was almost certainly that my let down was really fast on that side. I was dubious until it got more pronounced.

I lean back for feeds when I can and slightly to the side so she can dribble the milk out if it's too fast. When out I have a muslin handy so I can let the milk flow out into that and I let her come on and off.

Lots of reassuring talk to her while feeding as well.

i'm a bf peer supporter and it sounds liek a let down thing to me too, if you have got lots of milk on that side (hence the mastitis) it could be that i just comes out too fast, try expressing on that side and then feeding her, if she's better then it's a flow problem but they do usually sort themselves out as baby gets bigger

OMG THANK YOU so much! I thought it was only me! Yes I think it could well be fast let down will try those tricks - love the idea of sliding her over to the side :-)

As newbie mum had all sorts of panics rUnning through my head that I had done something wrong.

She is okay feeding lyingz down and I know that makes it slower so that does make sense thank you

Hope she grows out of it then! Thanks again :-)
