too much poo?

My DS is 21 weeks, usually poos every other day. The last 2 days he has pooed about 8 times per day, usually during each feed (ebf). They range from runny to quite dry, green to mustard colour, explosive and farty to silent and violent!

Should I be worried? He's teething but I thought any correlation with poo was a myth? Also has slightly raised temp of 37.2 (usually about 36.5)

Thanks!

Wow, poor you. Not sure I know.... My best suggestion is to maybe make an appointment with your GP for during the week and monitor this. Mainly because of the temperature raise, although if teething that sounds reasonable rise. If you notice requests for feeds changing (i.e. more or less) or any other changes maybe get in to the GP quicker. This way hopefully it either sorts itself out and its just a double check appointment or you just feel a bit more secure for having booked it and cancelling later....

I don't have any advice, but my 19 week old is doing exactly the same... suddenly much more frequent than before, though the consistency and colour isn't that far from normal (sometimes a little runnier/sometimes a little greener). Have also wondered about teething, as he's dribbling like mad and constantly has his hand in his mouth (but that's been going on for several weeks now), Mine doesn't seem to have a temperature, though, so was planning to leave it a couple more days to see if things go back to normal.

Thanks for the replies...

I think I'm going to take him to the GP this afternoon. Temperature has gone back down to normal but pooing is even more frequent and definitely more on the green side - 4 nappy changes during the night and only 2 feeds! Am a bit worried about hydration as its so hard to tell if nappies are wet when you're changing them for poo every couple of hours! Although I do think they aren't as heavy as they usually are so best get it checked out. Then I can begin to tackle sleep regression ...

My DS was the same last week. He is also showing signs of teething. I mentioned it to the do the doctor when I was there on am unrelated matter and he said it was probably a virus which would clear up on it's own, which it now appears to have done.

Yep, gp says it's a virus. Poor little man is not very happy :(
