Breastfeeding second time around

I'm just wondering if there's any difference in feeding the second baby? Is your body better at regulating the milk supply (I spent weeks having to sleep on towels last time)? I also had big problems with engorgement and spent a few weeks with cabbage leaves down my bra etc. I fed on demand so I'm not sure why it took so long for things to settle down. People keep saying to me that your body is better at giving birth the second time (I hope so) but does the same apply to boobs and feeding?

It's tough for me to say because the second time around I'm tandem feeding so very different! One of the advantages is that you know what you are doing. Your baby will be learning though so don't worry if it still takes some time to get going. I found my supply regulated a lot more quickly but I don't know if that's because of the tandem feeding.

It's tempting to compare babies but they are all different so don't worry too much if things are the same. As long as you know when to worry, the scope of 'normal' is pretty wide so things will probably go brilliantly but in a totally different way Grin

I deffantly found my milk supply seatled down a lot quicker and I could ditch the breastpads a lot sooner seconed time round.

But DS is a very different baby from DD, he's feeding patterns are completly different and he took longer to learn to latch well (although was a very quik feeder from day one).

I think your body's is used to it but every baby is still different.
