I really cant remember when i stopped sterilizing bottles for dd. Now ds is nearly 6m and I happy to still sterilize his bottle but just wondered what the concensus was for when to stop. He is already very active and puts everything in his mouth. I have a friend who was told 6m by a HV???
thanks

There is a school of thought that you don't ever need to sterilize, just wash in nice hot, clean water and leave to air dry or stick in the dishwasher if you are lucky enough to have one! I certainly wouldn't sterilize once you are weaning, no point unless you are bothering to sterilize all spoons, plates, sippy cups etc and anyway I doubt you sterilize all the toys they chew on, the fluss the eat off the floor.......

I bf but dd had the occasional bottle if I had to leave her and Ifigured I didn't sterilize my nipples so as long as I had washed the bottle properly as above it would be fine.

it is still advised to sterilise bottles and teats till 1 year as formula is an excellent breeding ground for dangerous bacteria. I always liked the peace of mind the sterilisation gave. I didnt sterilise anything else related to weaning, etc
