How many BFs for a 12mo old?

I know it's impossible to tell how many oz of BM any LO takes any time but does anyone have any knowledge/guidance about roughly how many BFs a 12mo old should be having to get their 'milk requirements'. My DD currently feeds on waking, after nap (have just dropped the mid-morning feed) and at bedtime - plus one and often two times during the night. She has slept through for a while before starting to wake again so it's hard to be sure if she's waking out of hunger/teething/cold, etc.

She eats solids pretty well, doesn't have a massive appetite though.

Is this about right? Ideally, I'd quite like to drop the night feeds but she's allergic to CMP and I don't want to offer Neocate or Nutramigen really.

Anyway, starting to waffle...any advice would be much appreciated!

I think 3 or 4 a day is supposed to be enough not to give cow's milk.

Sounds about right, I think it can vary quit a bit with toddlers though as they don't just take milk for nutrition. As you say things like teething and illness can make them want to feed more for the comfort.

I don't think its unreasable for a baby to want to feed at night at this age either. But I'm sure many would disagree with me.

Thanks. I don't think it's unreasonable either - just wish she wouldn't!

DS is almost 13m and is basically refusing to feed at all now. I try to give him a feed before bed but the last week he's refused it.

He CMPI as well, although we're giving him dairy gradually now. And he refused neocate and neutramigen etc.

I'm trying to get as much dairy into his diet as I can, I give him rice pudding, porridge, petit filous and put cheese on stuff, but he's not getting enough. I've got a dietician's appointment in a few weeks so I'm going to panic at them if he's not eating/drinking more dairy.

I didn't stop him feeding, he just dropped them one by one and then dropped the last two feeds all at once. I got him to have them occasionally, but he's definitely not interested now.

I would say your DD is getting plenty. I know if DS would even have two feeds a day I wouldn't worry at all.

Imp, it's unuseual for a baby to selfwean before 18months. Weaning usealy happens gradualy with baby have a feed one day maybe missing a day or two then feeding again.

Stopping suddanly is classes as a nursing strik. Read hear www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/baby/back-to-breast.html#linksstrike
