Bottle feeding + reverse cycling?

My baby is ten weeks old and as of the day before yesterday has decided to drop the 3pm feed. Until then she was having 3/4 oz every 3 hours during the day and then every 4 hours at night - The thing is she sleeps really well at night between feeds so how do I change it so she drops a feed at night instead of in the day - I have such problems getting to sleep in between her feeds and am lsoing my mind with the anxiety that she will wake up morein the night like she has the last few nights. It all started suddenly and as far as I can see there is no reason for it. It is only the feeding that is mixed up as during the day she is really alert and talkative. I am soooooooo anxious about all this as I dont know what to do! If I give her less at night wont she wake more often? Do I try to give her a big feed before bed?
Please help
!!

bottle if she has dropped her 3pm feed, how long is she going between the two feeds?

Has she started waking more yet or are you just anxious that she will?

Has she taken the recommended amount over the 24 hours?

She is going roughly 5/6 hours between feeds and does wake more often during the night, sort of every 2/3 hours.
What is the recomended amount?
Thanks for answering!

bottle the amount she should be having is explained here here but if you still can't get your head around it just say [hsmile].

Think that 5 to 6 hours in the day though is too long, especially for a baby so young. Know that I would struggle going that long and like you say, you really need that stretch at night, not during the day.

Have a read of this on reverse cycling. It is aimed at bfing mums but lots of the tips will be relevant to you too [hsmile].

Some things that might help are getting her up and fed and changed into daytime clothes pretty early, say 7 or 8, whichever you are happiest with.

Then make sure she gets some daylight, even if its just wrapping you both up warm and going into the garden and having a cuppa. The sunlight will help her realise it is daytime and the chemicals the brain produces in sunlight will help her sleep more at night.

Try and do some things in the day too. I know she won't be awake much at 10 weeks but she may enjoying a swimming or baby massage class or just going along to your local playgroup. Children's Centres usually have a good range of activities to try.

Make sure she has a relaxing bedtime too, with a lovely warm bath and some comfy night clothes.

There are some good tips here as well. [hsmile]

Thanks, she is awake for the day at approx 5.30 at the moment, we go out a lot, at least once a day and she is awake for really long stretches. Its literally just the feeding that has suddenly gone wrong! Will look at your link. Thanks..Smile

If she's dropped her 3pm feed, could something as simple as bring her next feed forward help?

Viagrafalls · 10/11/2011 21:40

I solved the problem by taking each feed down an ounce except the last one at 6 pm - she is now happily taking them all!
Thanks for advice
