Best first cup for bf baby....and what age did they manage to use it?

DD is 5.5 months and ebf. I was thinking of bypassing bottles altogether as she's not keen when I've tried them and wondering if I should try giving her water in a cup from 6 months (when I hope to start blw). Does she need water then, or do I just keep offering boob as a drink as well as main food source?
Am a bit clueless as DS was FF, so on bottles anyway.
Can't see DD physically managing a cup atm at all, although maybe I'm underestimating?
Was thinking of the Tommee Tippee tip it up? Do I need it?

I think the general advice is that she doesn't need to have water. But using a cup is a good skill to have, so I offered water in a cup when I was doing meals, and also as a fun social activity when I was having a coffee. (Starbucks is dd's third space too [hblush]). The NHS gave me a cup, and being a bit of a stickler by the book I only use cups that look like it. It is a free flow cup without a valve, just a sippy section with holes in it. We also had good interest from dd in using a doidy cup, but I have to say I've let this slip for soaking wet clothes reasons. As my baby book says, using the cup isn't really the problem, it's putting it down correctly afterwards...

I've jsut used a tommee tippee sippy cup the one's with the free flow lids. With both my BF, BLW'd baby's they do take a bit of practice to get it. But BF should still be her main sources of drink anyway untill 12months so she's plenty of time to learn if your not heading back to work soon.

I think it's no more then 2oz of water a day, it does say somewhere on the kellymom website.

I find the cups with screw top lids best, the free-flow ones usually have a hinged spout to seal them. The tommee tippee cups with the push on lids tend to explode in your bag - I've had to clean out wet clothes, nappies, bibs etc many times because the lid has popped off and soaked everything.

DD never managed a sippy cup, and as we were doing BLW I wasn't too bothered.

We went straight to an open cup - used a doidy, but first we used (and I know this is a bit odd) a plastic shot glass! It is much smaller, rim-wise and much similar in proportion to an adult drinking from an adult glass.

Worked really well and about to dust them off for DS!
