Does a clicking sound while bfeeding indicate anything

Hi dd is 5 wks and when she feeds it makes a clicking sound. Latch feels fine and apart from wind she's a happy baby- it just sounds wierd.

My first did this for a long time. One HV suggested a poor latch but the breastfeeding dept at the hospital said that some babies just do this. I went on to breastfeed her for 20 months, the first 6 months exclusively bf.

It can mean a tongue tie but not always and if your baby is otherwise fine and thriving is probably nothing to worry about. My 8 week old baby makes a clicking sound but her latch is fine and she's bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Congratulations, btw!

Cheers she's my second dd and I fed dd 1 till 11.5 months so will Defo keep it up! She's putting on weight very well- may attend the bfeeding support group to check with a councillor about latch (I've been avoiding the group as I don't want to scare all the new mummies with my toddler!

It can be tongue-tie, or a high palate, or a baby struggling with a fast flow. But if there are no other symptoms/problems it can be nothing!

My ds did this for a while too - one side more than the other so I think it might have been a faster letdown/flow on that side. Never bothered either of us though.

I was told it wasn't a good sign, either, but then I eventually realised it was actually the sound of her swallowing the milk. She still makes it now, at 13 months!

My DD does this, in her case it's when she breaks the seal around my nipple because she's trying to deal with over-fast flow of milk. I don't think it's causing a problem though.
