Foods to avoid to stop colic in BF newborn?

DD is only 2 weeks old and has had bad bouts of wind which we thought we'd sorted with infacol.
Came back with a vengeance the last couple of nights and we can only think it's because I had a curry on both nights.

Have googled and apparently, there's no scientific link between what I eat and it's effect on a baby's wind. But, I'm just wondering ... how much do other mothers believe that it does have an effect, and what foods would you avoid?

avoid peas/beans! Worst night i ever had with ds1 was after a home made spicy bean bake!

that was the ONLY useful bit of information I got from my HV.

My sister lives in Italy and tried giving up garlic, overnight he was a different child.

Carrots, peas, cabbage. And yes, i do believe your diet can have an effect when your baby is tiny. Later on, not so much. My DD definitely reacted to me have peas and carrots few times in a row. Poor thing screamed the house down.

Oh, and avoid take-aways. I had a Chinese once and although my DD was feeling fine, the most awful and scary looking, disgustingly smelly poo came out. Vile, vile, vile.

My apologies for last post's mistakes, am really knackered.

Caffeine and dairy.

Onions, leeks, garlic, broccoli and citrus fruits - made for a very boring diet!!

Wrigglebum · 20/08/2011 22:34

Anything that gives you or the father wind! Onions make DH trump like a trooper and sure enough a caramelised onion pizza had DS in agony. I also mostly gave up dairy as it helped a lot with reflux (before that we had some amazing projectile vomiting!).
Noone told me my diet would be more restricted when bf than when pg! Was worth it though.

Thai takeaway. It did DS no favours and DD was in agony last night with it - I had forgotten that it had such a pronounced impact...
