Does anyone have any experience of Avent Breast Pumps as I am going back to work soon and need to buy one? I love Avent bottles but have no experience of any other products in the range.

I've found it to be fine but have no experience with others to compare. My local hospital bfc lets people borrow different ones - maybe you could see if yours does?

Ameda Lactaline electronic one is brilliant but pricey (I could never get on with a hand pump) It is small enough to take to work and a dual pumping system. Try searching for Amber Medical on the web.

I have an Avent ISIS one with lots of extras and several new parts which I found very easy to use. I was just about to post it on the for sale for £10 including postage. CAT me if you are interested.

I found the Avent one to be the best.

I bought boots own when i had my ds and it was ruddish couldn't pump a drop with it. Didn't want to waste money on another one cos thought it must just be me. When i had my dd i bought the avent one which was fab and very easy to use, in fact don't know how i survived without it. 34 weeks gone with no.3 and i will be using it again!

I am selling a brand new avent isis in box if you're intersted?

Brizzer · 05/12/2005 16:03

Sounds like the Avent one is really good. Thanks for the offers of ones for sale and will be in touch if I decide to purchase. Incidentally, does pumping hurt and does anyone do it in front of their husband?!

doesn't hurt... i did it all the time in front of DP because I was exclusively pumping for a while

I tried manual pumps but didn't get anything from them, yet when I was in hospital they gave me an electric pump to use and it wizzed the milk out, if I try one again next time round I will deffo spend the extra money on electric.

Also pumped away in front of DH no problems there the first time I used the pump in hospital he kept making mooing noises don't see why you shouldn't do it in fron of yours.

I am an exclusive pumper as ds wouldn't latch. I use an ameda lactaline at home for speed and an Avent Iis manual when out and about. If using avent bottles the isis is an ideal pump as you can express straight into the bottles. IME if pumping is painfull you need to reposition the pump. I pump infront of DH he doesn't seem to have aproblem as he realises that I am just trying to give our son the best possible start.
