Bra Measuring - Has this happened to you?

I'm 39 weeks pregnant and went for a bra measuring in M&S yesyerday. She said I was measuring at 38" and a B cup so said that I should go down a band size to 36" and up a cup size to a C, meaning I should get a 36C. M&S didn't have any that size so I went to Mothercare today and thought I'd get them to measure me too. The girl there measured me in the same way but said that I was measuring at 34" and should therefore go for a 32" and DD cup size(!!!!) They didn't actually have any but I tried on a 34 and is was really uncomfortable and cut in under my arms.

What should I do? There is a John Lewis in town too but not sure whether to try there as well. I'm totally confused!

I found John Lewis to be good. They look at what size you're wearing and how it fits and go from there. Having had bra trouble all my life, I have been measured numerous times and get different 'answers' each time. The thing is, measuring doesn't take into account the shape of your boobs! And some of these fitters haven't a clue!

It is fit that is most important, so if something fits that isn't your measured size then don't worry. www.bravissimo.com have some lovely tips on fitting. You will probably want nursing bras to be a back size lower than you are at the moment as your rib cage will contract a bit. Also, remember and allow for breastpads. I got a cup size bigger than I was wearing when measured at 38wks. But by 6 wks post baby I needed another cup size up so don't buy too many to start with!

If you get the chance go to Rigby & Peller. They really know their stuff and can unnervingly measure you exactly without a tape measure. Discovered last year having been variously and wrongly measured by every high street bra seller including bravissimo that I'm a 32H - shocking to find myself in such a bizarre size but a huge relief to finally wear a bra that fits properly. I've wasted so much money over the years on ill fitting bras

Thanks for everyone's advice. Went to John Lewis today and the woman seemed to know what she was speaking about. I got an Emma Jane bra with kind of stretchy cups. It looks a bit like a cropped top type sleep bra but is actually a nursing one with drop cups. Will start off with that and see what happens when the baby is born!!
