Baby sleeping through night but bringing back all first feed. Advice?

DS is 13 weeks and breastfed. On the few occasions he's slept through the night I've fed him in the morning only to have him bring it all back up again - really projectile vomiting. My smugness at having an unbroken nights sleep is shattered by having to change him, me, the bed etc. Will he grow out of this? Any hints on what I can do to reduce this? I tried expressing a little this morning so my breasts weren't so full but he still did it - I think perhaps I didn't express enough.
TIA

I reckon he'll grow out of it-probably so hungry after going this long without food that he's guzzling.

Dreamfeed?
Stop him halfway through for a rub and a burp?

You don't have to express you know. If you want to then of course it's different.

How soon after the feed does he bring it back up? I'm not being disgusting but if you imagine putting the sick in a bottle, are you sure it is the whole feed. An ounce of milk would look a lot if you threw it on the bed! :-)

Charbell, he brings it up after a few minutes, I guess. You're probably right about it not being the whole feed but it is enough to saturate us both! It's not that I'm concerned that he's not getting enough nutrients - he's not generally a sicky baby at all. It's just I could do without changing sheets, him and me every time!

Moondog, I just wonder if my milk is flowing too fast for him as my breasts feel overfull so that's why I thought expressing to relieve the pressure might help. Might try a dreamfeed as you suggest.

If you know he will throw up a bit, could you not just get a towel and sit with it draped over the two of you?

No idea about the sick other than be prepared with a towel but I would definitely recommend a dream feed to encourage sleeping through the night. Worked for us. We also had a fixed getting up time of 7am and others would disagree and say 'never wake a sleeping baby' but after 6 weeks of sleeping through, it is still working for us!

...although if I fail to get a burp out of George, he often pukes up a lot as he sneaks one out later. Sometimes it takes a good few minutes to get a burp.

Charbell, what time do you wake your baby up for the dream feed? In fact do you actually completely wake up your baby? I've tried waking dd up completely for it and she is in a right mood and doesn't seem that interested in feeding. I've tried feeding her while she is pretty much fast asleep but she doesn't feed very well then either. What is the best way of doing it?

Usually a dream feed is done whilst the baby is alseep at around 10.30-11pm. Just stroke the baby's bottom lip with teat or nipple and their mouth should automatically open.

My ds does the same thing with his 1st feed (at 7am) is not interested in it and if I force him he throws up. But he suffers from reflux. I just keep a small bucket nearby really saves the washing and carpet! Not sure what the solution is tho I'm afraid... it could well be because he's over hungry but don't know the solution. Have you spoken to your HV or GP?
