I suppose it would be childish to text "Haha fuck you...."

Some of you will have seen my thread about 'people' trying to make me give my 3 week old baby formula milk. DP and his family have been convinced my milk isn't 'good enough' etc and have bought me (well intentioned) tins of milk and bottles. I have refused to use them and have been labled stubborn and told I would make myself and DS ill. They think he feeds to often etc - anyway don't need to go into all that again as I will start ranting - however,

I have just taken DS for his weight check this week....

And he has put on a whole pound!!

I am on top of the world, walking on air. I am so proud of myself and of my DS, everytime I have been sat in the house on my own feeding him, woken in the night to feed him, listened to their 'well meant advice' about how I didn't have enough to feed him and what I had probably wasn't good enough, argued with DP over me not giving him a bottle, has been worth it - my baby is happy and healthy because of me, and only me. I know I sound smug - its because I am Blush

I can't wait to tell them Grin

Thank you to you all for all the support you have given me on the breast feeding thread and on the antenatal thread, you lot are fantastic and I may have been more easily swayed if I didn't have the threads on here to read.

I saw your previous thread. So pleased for you. Grin

I'm bf DC3 who is 12 days old, and determined to succeed this time, and you've just made me realise that weight gain is another thing to be proud of.

Yes it would be childish, but I would be v tempted to send a text saying " Yay, DS put on a whole lb this week and the HV said I was doing an job and the best thing for him." ! Well done.

CamperFan · 07/07/2011 18:29

" an amazing job" that should have read. Your previous thread made me so cross BTW

Great stuff Prisoner Zero.

Take heed of Tiktok's warning though. I remember my inlaws exclaining in horror at ds's weight gain in the early days. He was a right chubber and I got the "Wow, what's in your milk?" comments.

Still feeding at 10 minths and he is pretty perfect.

superjobeespecs · 07/07/2011 18:51

aw well done!! havent seen your previous threads but yay you and you have every right to be smug!! i worried madly about BF DD but managed and she chubbed into a perfect wee princess who is now a wee 6 yr old skinny minnie so chubby baby = healthy child in my case and hopefully yours too well done again :)

PrisonerZero · 07/07/2011 19:35

Thank you all Smile

I have so far managed not to ring mil and gloat. I haven't seen DP today yet but wont be able to resist pointing out that I must be doing something right!

I took DS and my other DC out for dinner after school as a thank you to DS1 and DS2 as they have been so helpful - fetching things, getting me a drink and rocking the pram when DS3 is crying and I am putting dinner out etc, they have also got up every morning, got into their school uniforms and made there own breakfast whilst I am getting me and the baby ready so school mornings have gone smoothly. I am very proud of them, they are only 9 and 7 years old.
