Just something I'm considering for the future. I'd appreciate hearing your stories before talking to the donor bank people. Any advice welcome. When did you start donating, how much/ how often, how did it affect your supply, any problems?

I with rots its lovely to hear from you liege as someone who has recieved donor milk. I must admit I felt a lovely warm glow when my milk was collected and I love to think of the tiny babies getting some of my milk, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy :)

Hello KTisPG

well im in Huddersfield area and assuming all goes well etc i may be meeting you in October / November time Smile (baby due mid September)

I have seen that they have people come to collect milk from my freezer.... Im assuming that might be you ? Smile

(and thanks, i hadnt realised that i didnt need to have huge amounts of milk... but given most of my female relations have had huge amounts im hopeful i might too!)

I figure that as i cant give blood at the moment i can give my milk instead Smile! I hope.

naturalbaby the milk bank i donated to traveled miles to collect my milk...twas the lovely lynda from chester and i'm on the far side of leeds so quite literally half way across the country. She also kindly supplied a pump.

I did try somewhere closer to home but tbh they weren't too helpfull and only wanted it up till six months which was coming up...where as chester took it up to a year.

I'm pg again and hope to donate this time too. I'm just in a quandry as to who i should donate to... Hmm.

I did it too for 4 months (hospital stopped accepting it at 6 months). The midwives collected when I'd used up all the supply of bottles they gave me. The midwives here collect (in their own time, lovely ladies). I would def do it again, it was easy. I pumped each morning & sometimes at night whilst I fed ds from t'other boob.

At the end of it they sent a card to say thank you & let you know how just how many litres of milk you donated! Grin

I do feel a loyalty to her, but would like to know i'm helping localy too. Dilemma!

The Huddersfield milkbank is now at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax - they moved the milkbank with the Neonatal unit when they relocated Huddersfields maternity provision to Calderdale in 2008. Huddersfield Royal Infirmary now has a midwife led unit.

Nannyl Yes it will probably be me as I'm hoping to donate again myself - my third is due end of August :o
