Breastfeeding and bikinis...

Ok, not a vitally important thread, but I am having some issues finding a bikini. I am now a 34E and feel like a porn star (not in a good way- will not be wearing rabbit ears for some time). A friend gasped when I told her my bra size today and, when in John Lewis trying to find a bikini, the assistant chortled when I told her what I wanted.

I want a bikini that has cup sizes (tried a size 16 but, although the cup size is fine, the back strap is a little floppy, which isn't ideal), but that is not underwired as I'm still breastfeeding. Does such a thing exist?

Also, do I need to have it non-underwired? All my problems would be gone if I could wear underwired.

I think underwired bras aren't recommended when bfing as the wire can damage ducts? How many hours a day do you think you'll be wearing a bikini each day? How old is your child - it sounds like your milk supply is well established.

Bravamissio or Hot Milk might do a non-underwired one but they're quite pricey.

You can wear underwired. I have underwired nursing bras from Anita - nothing without wires is going to keep mine looking anything like reasonable, I'm wearing a 38G atm.

Righto. My baby is 6 months and so my milk supply is well-established. I'm hopeful I'm going to be wearing the bikini for many hours a day....but it may well be cold and thus I probably only want something to wear for an hour a day. Can I get away with something cheap from the highstreet?

Bravissimo are definitely good. I don't think you'll find one with support at that size on the high street - most assume that big boobs = big all over.

I could have written your post two years ago- I bought a Freya bikini in a 32E and it's gorgeous, fits well, is supportive and no wires. Good flattering bottoms too. Highly recommend. It was a similar style to this one. I know it doesn't look like it's support a bigger cup size but it does! Worth the cost too.

Look at Moontide bikinis too, they come in large sizes and the halter neck top bikinis in particular are really supportive without underwire.
