Feeling run down

Just wondered if anyone has any experience of this. My ds is 7mths and I am fully BF with a bit of solids. Last night when ds woke for feeds I felt unwell - headache, achey, a bit like I was coming down with something. My ds wouldn't settle after his feeds unless I brought him into bed with me (this only happens occasionally). This morning when I got up I just felt awful, like I had to stay in bed all day, so that's what I did, dp took the day off work and just brought ds to me for feeds. After a rest today I am feeling better but not 100%, but I don't think I am ill, sure I'll be fine tomorrow. My instinct tells me it is a whole load of sleep deprivation catching up on me..
Does anyone else have days when their body just gives up? Is BF putting extra strain on me? And if I am feeling run down will it affect my milk and in turn cause ds to be more unsettled than usual at night?

Breast fed both of mine for 9 months, sleep deprivation was out of this world!!!!!! Really can feel how you are feeling, get as much sleep as you can.The housework and tidying up can wait.
It didnt affect my milk.

AM still BF my DD (7 1/2 months) and know how you feel! BF uses up a lot of calories and a lot of energy so be kind to yourself. I have days when it is all too much and I just zizz on the sofa whilst she sleeps.

I find that plenty of carbs help me to feel more in control - slow release carbs (like oats) are no doubt better for you than fast ones (sugars), but then they are perfectly combined in the milk choc Hob nobs which I used to eat by the packet. Am dieting now but still have to eat lots of carbs on days when I am too knackered to move.

I sometimes have that feeling when I reduce feeding - a bit shivery and achey, as if coming down with a cold. My milk fine and seems to suit DD but felt better for having fed. Boobs quite lumpy as if overful, so wonder if could be to do with that. Mastisis is supposed to make you feel fluey - I've not had it and gather it is v painful so probably not that but perhaps something similar?

I reckon that if you consider all the nights of broken sleep you have since you gave birth, you would realise why you occasionalloy feel wiped out. I am sure it is normal and gather it improves as they get bigger and eat more in the day.

Take care and hang on in there

X

Thanks girls, just tucking into some chocolate for supper now actually! On a bad night ds still wakes for feeds up to 4-5 times between 7pm and 7pm but just the other day I was saying to dp how I didn't feel tired during the day any more in spite of this, and I haven't napped during the day for ages. I thought my body had just finally adjusted to never getting a full night's sleep but obviously I was wrong..
