How much expressed milk for EBF 6 month DS?

Am leaving EBF DS with my Mum for an afternoon and evening (probably 8-9 hours) and have about 20oz (in 4 bags) of expressed milk.

Am slightly concerned that I've only got a small amount of milk to leave as he seems to be having a growth spurt ATM but not really eating solids yet. Has bf almost 2-3 hourly last couple of days.

How much milk should she put in a bottle for each feed?
Would like not to waste any if possible but don't want to starve the hungry boy!

Wondered if I should get a carton of formula just in case he gobbles the lot and howls for more.

TIA

There's a useful calculator on Kellymom . It's sounds like you've got more than enough!

Also advice here for use of leftover milk.

Some BF babies will drain a bottle even if they are not hungry, because they are used to being able to suck for comfort, so you may want to show your mum these guidelines.

Hope that helps, and you have a good time while you're out!

Well if your son is an average baby you have left 20 hours worth of milk (average 1-6m baby takes 25oz a day on a range of 19-30oz).

Kerfluffles links are very good esp. the how to bottlefeed the bf baby one.

Have a great time out and don't forget to take your pump!

Thanks for the info and kind wishes.

I'm amazed that an average 7 month old takes 30oz, thought it would be loads more.
Will be interesting to see how much of the expressed milk he takes [hopeful].

Am taking my pump and hoping there's a quiet room that I can use (going to wedding in boutique hotel) as it's electric and sounds like a braying donkey Shock

Really hope he behaves for my Mum as he seems to have turned into a clingy Mummy's boy over the last week, particularly so in the evenings.
Think a bit of quality grandparent time is just what he needs Grin
