...def not mastitis. It's only tiny on the tip but the pain is phenomenal. It's been hurting for 2 weeks, turned yellow, the tiny bit where it is doubled in size, now black with I think yellow behind (sorry, sorry...) which is when the pain went through the roof. Just back from the out of hours GP who's given me volterol but doesn't know what it is and is sending me to see a consultant surgeon tomorrow. Has anyone had this? As on the other recent thread about blocked ducts, my bra wearing did change...I started wearing underwired and non-wired sports bras a few weeks ago as I was planning on stopping feeding, but didn't stop...and now only feed twice a day...have an inkling this may not be unrelated... Confused

Hello, not sure if there's anything on this thread or the linked ones that will help?

You have my sympathy, I'm also BF at two years and it's miserable to have problems at this stage. BF is a journey to say the least :)

I am wondering blood blister? With a touch of infection behind, possibly....

FeatheredHeart · 24/05/2011 22:47

Thanks all! Actually, Oakmaiden that sounds just about spot (sorry!) on. The pop option feels unthinkable but I can't think how else it'll clear.

Hm. Afraid I am very out of date with regard to bf issues, so am not certain of the best way to deal with it if it is a blood blister. Is there any way you could contact a bf specialist/counsellor and ask them the best way to treat it?

My not very good memory is suggesting to me that you should encourage toddler to use a different angle when feeding, so he/she isn't causing friction on that spot, and that it will probably heal itself if given time.

I was thinking the yellow you described could be infection, but I suppose if the area around it isn't inflamed it may be a blocked milk duct under the blister?

have you tried a bathing it with water as hot as you can stand? that may encourage it to break of it's own accord.
