Infacol/gripe water?

my ds is 2 months old, he suffers with slight colic/trapped wind at night (not too severe luckily, but enough to disturb him and upset him). I know infacol and gripe water can be used for this, but I don't understand what the difference is between the 2. Is 1 better than the other? What have you found worked better? I am mix feeding, but have found it makes no difference if we give bottle or breast at this time, he still suffers from it.

Not sure what Infacol is but we used Gripe Water and infant acidopholus. Or lacto baccilus. (Sp?) I took some also (infant acidopholus) so it would come through my breast milk. It really helped his tummy.vn

Hi - I found that Infacol is better for prevention (we gave 2 squirts before every feed) and gripe water is good for quick relief - we used gripe water at the first sign of trouble starting in the evening and it would sometimes nip things in the bud. HTH

I tried both and found that not only did infacol work better, but was much easier to give to the baby as it was thicker and had a pipet. Gripe waters thin and you need to use a spoon.

Hope this helps

Infacol did nothing for ours and I think that Gripe Water has an age limit on it too, perhaps your pharamist would know or be able to recommend something else.

We used Dentinox which was the only thing that worked for us and also the only thing that worked for DN.

Thought you might also like to have a read of this.

we used both gripe water and infacol. we found infacol worked better for us but we found dentinox which was brilliant. someone reccomended to us somehting out of boots which was really expensive in a small bottle but cant remember the name. sorry

I don't particularly believe any of them work!

Apparently Gripe water used to contain alcohol which is explains why it worked then...

Infacol and Dentinox use a related active ingredient (but not the same). Its something which groups the little bubbles together in the stomach. It won't lessen the amount of gas, but should make it easier to come up.

As far as I'm aware, Gripe Water is entirely natural ingredients.

The other thing in the little bottle is Colief, which is something to do breaking down the lactose or lactase in the milk.

Infacol worked brilliantly for us, and if it does work it is very very helpful.

It might be worth trying one or the other to see if they do work. I would ask around, as there is bound to be people with an unused/hardly used bottle of either or all of them in their cupboard!

Infacol helped us immediately, but I think you need to be taking it for two weeks to see the full effect.
