Nursing pads - recommendations please - brand, washable, disposable

My milk's not so much "come in" as it's "spurting out".
Seriously. After having a shower I was looking at the bathroom ceiling to see if there was a leak when I realised it was me.

So, what do you use and recommend?
(I have some disposable samples to do me until I get to the shops)

Lansinoh disposables are my favourite, they are nice and slim.

MissRedIndie · 14/05/2011 13:44

Boots ultra thin, individually wrapped ones are the best I've found, they've got a large diameter, and are impressively absorbent without leaking.

PorkChopSter · 14/05/2011 13:59

Lansinoh and Tommee Tippee are the same sort and my favourite. TT ones sold in more places and usually half price, and less packaging than the Lansinoh version.

moaningminniewhingesagain · 14/05/2011 14:03

I liked the Johnsons ones. Supermarket own brand ones were all absolute shit.

BranchingOut · 14/05/2011 14:04

motherease washables from the Totnes Nappy Company. I love them and wish that I'd bought them sooner.

HarrietJones · 14/05/2011 14:12

Asda ones. I'm currently wearing 3 j&j ones atm cos my milk won't stop Hmm

Tamdin · 14/05/2011 14:12

I use tommee tippy ones too. They're Slim absorbent and sensibly (IMO) come wrapped with 2 in a packet. Less hassle and less packaging. Who only wants one breast pad?! Only complaint would be they only have one sticky attachment

ludge · 14/05/2011 14:14

Johnsons definitely. Tried loads and they were the only ones that I worked for me. Agree supermarket own brands were useless.

HarrietJones · 14/05/2011 14:38

I hate the two in a packer ones cos I often just need to replace one.

primalero · 14/05/2011 15:31

Thanks everyone - it sounds like disposables are the favourite

Well, as with nappies etc, more people use disposables than washables so they may come across as the favourite for that reason! If I was choosing disposables I would suggest Johnson's too.

However, the washable ones I have suggested fitted my shape beautifully, were very comfortable, not at all crinkly and could just be lobbed in the wash with my bras, rather than filling up the waste bin or making a regular appearance in my shopping basket.

ladybirdlittle · 15/05/2011 18:29

I have little lamb washables - v soft and discreet!

HarrietJones · 15/05/2011 19:58

My washables dOnt contain my milk. I also don't like bringing sopping ones home in my handbag when I have to change them if I'm out

balletmoo · 15/05/2011 19:58

Tescos own are good, but don't even bother with sainsburys own because they are totally rubbish.

Boots ultra slim are good too, although I found the fact that they are individually wrapped a bit of a faff for every day!

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/05/2011 00:32

I tried thousands of reusables, came back to Johnson's every time.

lilham · 16/05/2011 06:46

I've bought some washable ones and they are useless. I leak through them so they aren't any better then just stuffing some muslin down my bras!

For disposables I like johnsons.

sophielouise · 16/05/2011 08:03

I also have big leaky problems and I found the Johnson's ones left bits of cotton wool fibre stuck to my nipples! Boots ones (even the extra absorbant ones) go all lumpy and fall apart. The best ones for me are the Avent ones but they only sell them in the big stores. Too lazy not brave enough to try the reusable ones Blush

GwennieF · 16/05/2011 08:13

I have the One Life reusable ones and I found them much better than any of the disposable ones I tried. I leaked alot in the first 3-4 months, especially during a feed, the boob that DD wasn't feeding from would drip (through my tops) until she swapped over. I didn't leak much inbetween feeds though, except at night.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 16/05/2011 08:28

boots washable
i am pretty certain that the disposable ones contributed towards getting thrush in my case

primalero · 16/05/2011 12:03

GwennieF and sophieloiuse I think I share your situation:

^I also have big leaky problems and I found the Johnson's ones left bits of cotton wool fibre stuck to my nipples!

Yep I have one grazed nipple (I'm new to BF) that I had to peel off a sample Johnson's disposable pad last night. The layer of Lansinoh had been soaked up too. And I've had to explain to DS that this business of waking for a feed is a 2 way street - there's to be no snoozing after emptying #1 as I need him to at least do a few mins on #2! I know there's worse problems to have but when switching sides it's like I'm putting a hosepipe in his mouth.

GwennieF · 16/05/2011 13:24

Oooh - grazed nipple..... Makes my toes curl just thinking about it! I had cracked nipples with DS and found sleeping with no bra on did them the world of good. I just had to sleep on a folded towel to soak up the leakages!

coldcomfortHeart · 16/05/2011 20:17

I found any plastic-backed ones just made my thrush much worse- I used Gerber disposables (no plastic back) in the end that my mum bought abroad (useless I know, sorry! But wanted to make the point about plastic)

Might try reusables this time so it's good to get a few recommendations

kimberlina · 16/05/2011 21:35

tesco's with me. But if you leak whilst feeding then just press the heel of your hand on the opposite boob when you feel a letdown and it will stop the leakage
