Has anyone managed to get a 13week old to take a complete feed from a cup?

Hi!

I posted a little while ago about my DS (13 weeks) who has started to refuse a bottle (he is EBF). He had a bottle of expressed milk daily since about 9 days old, but has now decided to refuse it!

I am getting very stressed out by this, and feeling slightly claustrophobic as he feeds every 2-3 hrs during the day so I feel like a prisoner.

I have had some success with a Tomme Tippee sippy cup (with a closed spout that requires sucking) and he will take about 2oz from that. But I wouldnt dare leave him with DH and just a cup.

Does anyone have any ideas/advice/ experience to share with me?

Thanks!

Any joy, Suzy?

Well I am pleased to report that DS has had a bottle at bedtime for the last 3 nights!! It is still a struggle, he has a bit of a screaming fit, falls asleep, and then quite happily takes the bottle. I am hoping that the screaming fit will die out soon!

I am also persevering with the Tommee tippee sippy cup every day too, and he is getting less dribbly!

Hoorah! Happy for you. I've got a screamer too (even though stopped BF 4 weeks ago and mixed feed since day one) so completely understand the stress of bottle screaming. Hope it gets much better soon, your DS will probably stop screaming at bottle before mine does as I have not a clue why mine screams. :)

Thanks!

Im also not sure why DS screams, I think its probably overtiredness. I am determined to continue tho< so he will just have to learn not to scream I guess!

Hi,

Just wanted to update this thread and say that DS has evetually stopped screaming (most of the time anyway!) and will now take a bottle at bedtime and the morning.

I persevered with the TT CTN bottles but switched to size 3 teats. I have a fast let down and thought DS might be getting frustrated by the slow bottle teats.

Anyway, just wanted to update everyone, and hope we all manage to getting out little milk monsters drinking out of bottles!

Good to hear Suzy. We're still trying and still getting the screaming...
