Just wondering really. I know obv there is a large difference in ages bf up to but I wondered what the av was. I also heard somewhere that something like only 5% of babies are still bf at 6 months and wondered why that was. I was assuming I would bf DD (now 10 weeks) until about 1 yr but obv would be less and less as solids introduced. Never occured to me that so many people stopped so early and just wondered why as there must be a reason for it Hmm

DS1 stopped at around 6 months, because I went back to work and was rubbish at expressing.

DD1 and DD2 were later, because I wasn't working by then; they phased out gradually but had stopped by about 9 months.

Mainly because by then they were eating well, and tbh, I wanted my body back.

Exclusively breastfed for more than 6 months (was moving continent and paed said to wait to wean)

Still feeding her and she's 2-1/2 and I'm 6 months pregnant. Plan on tandeming. Midwives discombobulated, to be honest, and have told me to stop.

If you'd have told me I'd still be breastfeeding a 2-1/2 year old and planning to tandem and planning to let other one self wean (if it goes ok) I'd have laughed long and hard. Yes, I'd made 'bitty' remarks

I only planned to get to 6 months but once that came and went (and my baby was prem) I saw no point in us stopping. As I went on I was more convinced of the benefits of feeding for longer.

Hit a roadblock at 18-22 months as was still demand feeding (although working part time so not demand feeding from 7am-3pm on those days) but was spending hours at night feeding and feeding and feeding and I was getting 'newborn' phase sleep and that was hard. So I stopped feeding to sleep but still fed.

Yes, I'd made 'bitty' remarks BEFORE I had a baby. I meant to say. Saw a five year old in Thailand asking to 'nurse' and made those comments to my husband then.

Ditto my husband. He thought prior to reaching 1 year that feeding a toddler would be odd, but has always been supportive and been on the journey with us, realising that of course, once they speak and have teeth it doesn't necessarily become 'odd'. It's all preconceptions really.
