Lump for 4 days has despite efforts turned into painful mastitis. How to get anti-bs on a Sunday?!

I found a hard lump on my right breast, part under the nipple part beside the nipple, on Tuesday. Have been feeding lots, expressing, hot bath/showers, massage, combing, extra fluids, ibuprofen etc and it hasn't gone but hasn't got any worse

This afternoon it got more lumpy & painful and after one hour in a hot bath massaging & hand expressing it now seems very lumpy & pronounced and is sooo tender, red & sore :(

Have I made it worse?! Is this possible? I also feel tired and sick

Does the worsening sound like mastitis?

Is this reason to ask for an out of hours GP appointment/home visit? I'm miserable :( is it possible to get anti-bs from GP on a Sunday? Would I have better luck atA&E or would they think me ridiculous?

Feeling ohh so sorry for myself

Do you have a walk in centre or an out of hours service nearby? They are places that you can access at the weekend.

Poor you Sad

I would call your out-of-hrs service (can get the number usually from recorded message on GP regular no.)

Some out-of-hrs are prepared to write a script without seeing you - or they may offer an appt tomorrow

Either way, you should def get ABs soon! Good luck Smile

Not sure about a walk in centre but thanks for the idea

We've only just moved here so don't know much about the local facilities, haven't met the GP, haven't met the health visitor..

If you ring your GP surgery now there should be an answer machine message telling you where to call out-of-hrs or in an emergency

If you call NHS direct, they can get a local out of hours Dr to call you back. I had this and the Dr spoke to me on the phone, then sent a prescription to the local late chemist that my DH could pick up for me.

So, as suggested, got an out of hoursappointment at the hospital via nhs direct - 7 day course of amoxicillin. On Thursday, yesterday, saw GP as there was no improvement. He gave me a new course of Keflax antibiotics and recommended belladonna.

Today it is so painful I am crying.

So after all my showers, hot baths, compresses, massage, feeding, hand expressing, and two types of antibiotic I'm now crying with pain. It's been 10 days now.

I don't know what to do - it's so tender, and when DS latches on it's like I'm being sliced open :(

Help?!

:( :( :(

A&E? Sounds like an abscess - you may need it drained or aspirated, and the relief will be wonderful. You can still feed on one side while the drain is in place.

Agree with tiktok. You need to go to A&E, sorry.
I hope that you get some relief soon.
