9 week old DD with acid reflux and first tooth (!!)

Does anyone have experience with giving Gaviscon to a EBF baby? My DD has been diagnosed with it today. My DS had reflux but it was diagnosed much later on by which time he was already on bottles so I would put it in his formula. I have tried to give her it today as per the instructions (in cooled boiled water) but she spits it out!! Doesnt help that she cut her first tooth at 8 weeks (she was born with lump in her bottom gum which they assured me wasnt a tooth but which turns out was!). Now the tooth has cut it does cause some owee situations. She seems particulary out of sorts today, not ill, but has been wanting to feed ALL the time. Could this be because of the tooth? Has anyone else experienced their baby getting a tooth so soon?

no tme sorry hope someone else with more experience can help. (my dd did have reflux and was prescribed gaviscon but i cna't remember if she spat it out or no)

no clue re the gaviscon but there is a reflux support thread which may be able to help.

also no experience re early teeth, but my babies have all fed constantly when poorly at this age, and teething can be quite sore, so grumpy and wanting constant comfort sounds about right.

poor both of you.

Hi - my ds had reflux and was prescribed gaviscon - the doctor said as she prescribed it that not many babies take to it, and that she fully expected me to return in a few days time at which stage she would prescribe the stronger drugs (domperidone and ranitidine). This is what happened, and within a week or two of going on those he was a completely different baby - they worked a treat!

Good luck!

I make mine up for DD who is ebf too - as per intrsructions then give to her in a bottle then I feed has as normal

Try putting the syringe in the inside of her cheek as harder to spit out then. Also teeny tiny amounts at a time?

Sad i had never heard of those i wish i had fought harder for my dd all that time ago

Well she is accepting it in teeny tiny doses through a syringe as advised Iggly. Thank you
