i have b/fed dd for 19months now, she is allergic to dairy and wont touch nutramigen so i wanted to continue until she was 2.

Thing is im absolutely exhausted, i have no energy at all, she doesnt sleep through the night-she has development delay and wakes regularly for a feed at least twice in the night, nothing works, not feeding her up,letting her scream-she just wakes the whole house up, she only wants milk, she also has about 3 feeds in the day as well and im fed up of it.

i feel so guilty for thinking this way but i dont know how much longer i can carry on

Has anyone else been in this situation and if so what did you do?

I was in this situation at 6 months with dd2.

I gave up and felt soooooo much better. I was paying a fortune seeing an acupuncturist to try and raise energy levels and one day she said look just give up breastfeeding. So I did.

You've done fantastically by your dd.

time to call time I think

God you've done brilliantly.
If you want to give up,then go for it!!

(Dairy thing shouldn't be that big an issue. My ds selfweaned at 11 months and has never had any sort of milk-just cheese and yoghurt.)

Oh you poor thing. YOu sound absolutely at the end of your tether. If you are worried about calcium, you could give her a liquid calcium supplement or just give her yoghurts if she'll eat them.
What in her heart of hearts do you want to do? You have done amazingly well with your dd, but what would make you happiest now?
OF course, not breastfeeding won't make her sleep through instantly, sadly.
Is there anything she does like to drink from a cup?

i do want to give up, im experimenting with soya yoghurts ATM and she likes them and she will also take a small amount of soya milk so i think that will be the way to go.

she is so clingy though i dont even know how to begin stopping b/feeding her, when my ds stopped he weaned himself off it gradually and i didnt really have to do much, dont know about dd though, whats the best way to go about stopping

Can you engineer some reasonably lengthy separations in the day? My dd was like this (gave up at 30 months) but ds lost interest from about 10 months. Was amazed at how different they were.
