Is it possible to store sterilised bottles? It seems I am constantly sterilising bottles but I would like to perhaps do a job lot and store them somewhere safe.

I am using a microwave steriliser

thanks in advance

I couldn't find a way to keep them sterile and someone told me about this steriliser which is the very best thing I have ever bought for the baby. It keeps things sterile for 24 hours on one programme and you can take things in and out. There are cheaper ones on ebay too:

I sterilised them, assembled them and then stored them in the cupboard and used them within 24 hours.

the idea of sterilising is to kill any germs that might have grown on any milk residue left on the bottles. If you have washed the bottles properly (hot soapy water) and then run them through the steriliser (not strictly necessary if you have washed them properly but recommended as a last ditch effort to make sure all milk germs are 100% dead), you don't need to keep them sterile.

You probably already know this but just incase, milk is an ideal breeding ground for certain types of bacteria which can make babies quite ill. This is why the advice is to make bottles up with water 70 degrees or over comes from. Once the bottle reaches room temp though, bacteria can start to regrow (which is why the advice is to discard after 2 hours).

The sterilisation process has killed any (unlikely) remaining bacteria. You don't need to keep resterilising them. The bottles may pick up every day germs like all the other surfaces in your home. There is no need to protect your baby from them. Infact your LO's immune system will function better if you don't. Just the milkborne ones.

So, you can run the steriliser once and keep the bottles in there, taking them out as you need them. You dont need to keep running it every time you need a bottle.

Hope that makes sense.
