Why does last BF of the evening take so long? Is it the same for FF babies?

Every evening my EBF dd takes ages to feed and I'm not sure if she's sucking for comfort or it's because of low supply that time of day. She feeds before her bath at 6.30, then again afterwards on and off until she goes to sleep around 8.30 some evenings. I wondered what the routine would be for a FF baby? Do you give it in bits? Before or after bath etc? What amount do you give? Interested as thinking of going to bottles of expressed milk for the last feed.

My baby does the same and from what I understand cluster feeding in the evenings is pretty normal :)

I remember DS would take ages feeding when he was overtired. So he couldn't quite switch off and boob would give him comfort. You could try earlier bedtime with no bath and see what happens.

But yes cluster feeding is incredibly common! Babies get a lot of comfort from the boob - not just food so not sure comparing to FF would work?

Thanks for your replies, I guess I am interested to see how it works when a baby is bottle fed. Does cluster feeding still happen? Do people give the whole feed in one go, then put them down to sleep or is it not that simple...

sophie I bottle feed dd3 (10 weeks old) and she cluster feeds all the time - not just in the evening Grin. She can hum and ha over her evening feed for a while and then the next day she can wolf it down, no rhyme or reason to it.

Based on my nct group, the ebf babies tended to cluster feed but sleep for longer periods earlier on, whereas the ff babies were on 3-4 hourly feeds at night for much longer. It does stop eventually!
